Terms of Use

These terms cover the waitlist at longa.work and the pre-launch preview app. They are written to be understood, not to hide things.

What Longa is right now

Longa is a job and freelance marketplace for the 16 member states of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), operated from Namibia. Listings are for work in SADC countries, and accounts sign up from them.

Longa is in pre-launch. The waitlist is live, and the application is a working preview that anyone can try, with the shared demo accounts or an account of their own. Features can change, break or disappear while we build, and data you enter in the preview may be reset before public launch. Nothing here is a promise that a particular feature will ship on a particular date.

The waitlist

Joining the waitlist is free and puts you in a queue for your country. A place in the queue is not a job, an offer of employment, or a guarantee of access on a given date. One entry per person: duplicate sign-ups with the same email address keep the original position.

Your account

  • Give accurate information and keep your password to yourself.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access to it.
  • You must be 16 or older to use Longa.

What you may not do

  • Post a job that does not exist, or ask candidates for money, equipment or unpaid "training" to apply.
  • Discriminate on grounds that have nothing to do with the work.
  • Scrape, resell or bulk-copy profiles, job posts or contact details.
  • Impersonate another person or company, or misrepresent a credential.
  • Upload malware, or attempt to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service.

We may suspend an account that does any of the above, and we will say why.

Content you post

You keep ownership of what you post — your profile, your job listings, your messages. You give Longa a non-exclusive licence to store, display and transmit that content so the product can work: show your profile to people you message, show your job to candidates, and so on. That licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies already held in backups for a short period.

We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law, and we aim to tell you when we do.

Employers and recruiters

If you post a role, you confirm you are authorised to recruit for it, that the pay and location are accurate, and that you will handle applicant data lawfully. Applicant documents you receive through Longa may only be used to assess that application.

Availability and liability

The service is provided "as is" while in preview. We work to keep it available and correct, but we cannot promise uninterrupted service or that every listing is genuine. To the extent the law allows, Longa is not liable for indirect losses, lost profit or lost opportunities arising from use of the preview. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending your use

You can leave at any time: delete your account in Settings (it is erased after a 30-day grace period), or ask us to. We can suspend or end access if these terms are broken, or if we shut the preview down. Where it is practical, we will give notice and a way to export your data first.

Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Namibia. Questions, complaints and takedown requests go to hello@longa.work.
